COMBS

Edsel Ray Combs, 85, of Charlotte, NC passed away on November 19, 2015 in Huntersville, NC.  He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on November 23, 1929 to the late James and Pearlie Combs.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Catherine Combs; son, Greg Combs and his wife Diania; daughter, Debbie Richards and her husband Scott; son, Jeff D. Combs; son, Kevin Combs and his wife Shannon; grandchildren, Angela, Grant, Erica, Kyle, Tiffany, Bree; and four brothers and 3 sisters.

Ray opened his family owned business Combs Concrete Construction in 1955 to pass down to his family. He was an Army veteran and a Baptist by faith. Ray was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and cherished his family above all.

Ray enjoyed many things in life, including the lake, fishing, bowling, football, playing cards, Nascar, cookouts, and beating the family in corn toss.

A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Jackson at 3:00pm on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Peninsula Baptist Church, 687 Brawley School Rd, Mooresville, NC with the visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Charlotte, NC.
