Early Voting ends Saturday

Oct. 28. Today, Friday and Saturday are the last three days of Early Voting; there will not be Early Voting on Sunday or Monday.

After two weeks of Early Voting—EV began at the Mecklenburg Board of Elections office Oct. 14—Cornelius Town Hall is the top polling place county-wide, with 1,256 votes cast. There were 246 votes cast yesterday, the highest so far at Town Hall.

Davidson Public Library is running second in terms of total voters, with 1,011 votes since EV began; the North County Library in Huntersville, with 957 votes cast, is in third place.

• It doesn’t necessarily mean that more Cornelius voters came out—any county voter can vote at any one of seven Early Voting sites.

Early voting opens at 10 am and closes at 7 pm today and Friday. On Saturday, the EV sites will be open from 8 am to 3 pm. There has been no waiting.

All five Cornelius Town Commissioner seats are up for grabs, with nine candidates, five of them incumbents. Mayor Woody Washam is running unopposed.

• Election Day is Tuesday Nov. 2.
