Does Fido need a break from you?

March 4. It looks like a PetSuites pet resort may be coming to Cornelius. The national company is looking at property behind a planned convenience store at Nantz and West Catawba, according to town officials.

Doggone luxurious

PetSuites is known for “canine suites” and “cat condos,” according to the company’s website.

Options include the Canine Luxury Suite, with a raised bed and a personal TV.

Background

Pet adoptions soared during the pandemic and, with many pet owners returning to the office, there’s a growing need for pet care.

Pet owners in the U.S. spend more than $60 billion yearly on their pets with $5 billion spent on pet care services such as grooming, boarding, walking, training and pet sitting.

Development process

Town officials said PetSuites is early in the process of development—and actually had plans to build here pre-pandemic. The current project would be fully contained, with no outdoor facilities.

PetSuites locations are already located on Wendover Road, Prosperity Ridge Road and near the Charlotte Airport.
