COVID update Sept. 28

Sept. 28. With the CEO of Pfizer predicting a more normal life within a year—in spite of new variants of COVID-19—the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services continues to report more moderate data.

The NCDHHS said there were no new deaths in Mecklenburg County today. Hospitalizations statewide—3,073 as of today—have been under 3,500 for more than a week.

New cases (3,469), while higher than yesterday (2,665), are 32 percent lower than the average daily increase (5,136) last week.

Deaths

There were 50 new deaths statewide due to COVID-19, for a total of 16,285 since the pandemic began last year.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, there were 400 new cases from Monday’s report.

North Mecklenburg (change from Monday)

Cornelius: 7 new cases, 3,828 cumulative total, 28 deaths cumulative total.

Davidson: 4 new cases, 2,209 cumulative total, 16 deaths cumulative total.

Huntersville: 22 new cases, 8,331 cumulative total, 66 deaths cumulative total.
