COVID update March 23

March 23. As of today, the NCDHHS will report COVID data weekly, but some of today’s data is the same as yesterday’s—for example, statewide hospitalizations (616), total Mecklenburg cases (277,020) and Mecklenburg deaths (1,555).

In the past, we did the math each day to report daily changes.

What’s new today

—There were 2,842 new coronavirus cases reported in North Carolina last week, down from 3,924 the week before,

—Statewide, there were 39 new deaths attributable to COVID in today’s NCDHHS report.

—COVID-19 particles found in wastewater last week were 1.7 million; this week they were 1.2 million. We will not be reporting on wastewater particulates in future weeks.

—Hospital admissions statewide due to COVID dropped from 524 last week to 401 this week.

North Meck

Cornelius: 2 new cases, no new deaths

Davidson: 3 new cases, no new deaths

Huntersville: 8 new cases, no new deaths

76 percent of adults in North Carolina have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 72 percent are fully vaccinated.
