Businesses closing due power outage

WATERBEAN IS CLOSED

July 9. UPDATE 10:15 am. The CVS on W. Catawba in Peninsula Village has reopened, thanks to power being restored. Businesses closed near Jetton and West Catawba after Duke Energy said a power outage would not be fixed until 6 pm. Now some houses along Jetton are reporting power is back on.

More than 1,100 customers have affected, mostly down Jetton, John Connor and nearby streets.

CVS IS CLOSED

Waterbean and some adjacent businesses are still closed. The Peninsula Yacht Club is also closed.

Summer camp at the yacht club is cancelled.

Power went out about 11:30 pm Monday, due to “damage to our equipment,” according to Duke Energy.

The weather is cooperating, which means a cooling rain. Temps will be quite a bit lower than Monday’s high in the mid 90s. The humidity will stick with us, literally, so it will feel muggy even though the high will only be about 83, according to thee National Weather Service.

And in case the power doesn’t come on, the cooler weather, caused by a cool air wedge, will stick around tomorrow as well. The outage was reported around 11:30 pm Monday.
