Five finalists were selected in the Fun & Festive category, and six were chosen in the Spooky & Scary category.

Decorations will be lit from 5:30 to 9 p.m. nightly through Oct. 28. Votes can be cast online.

The contest is organized by the Cornelius Parks and Recreation department and winners will be announced on the department’s social media pages and in its newsletter.

Last chance to take survey

The parks department is asking residents to weigh in on recreation programs and activities through a brief survey to help guide future offerings.

The two-minute survey asks households which programs they currently enjoy, what they would like to see more of and what new activities they would like the town to offer.

Responses will help the town plan recreation opportunities that reflect community interests and needs. Participants will be entered for a chance to win prizes, including VIP event passes, gift cards and department merchandise.
