Wher-Rena Hosting Community Yard Sale
The vacant Wher-Rena Boatland site on West Catawba Avenue will see new life this weekend as its owner explores future uses for the property.
Fil Maciolowski, who owns the CLT Wholesale facility on Bailey Road, is hosting a community yard sale Friday and Saturday, bringing together yard sellers, local boutiques, retail vendors and food trucks.
CLT Wholesale is a scratch-and-dent and liquidation warehouse on Bailey Road selling discounted appliances, tools, furniture, outdoor equipment and home improvement products. Maciolowski and his staff regularly post social media updates highlighting inventory, which changes frequently and can range from kitchen appliances and lawn mowers to electric scooters and cement mixers.
As of Tuesday, 50 individual sellers and vendors had signed up. Registration costs $25, and sellers must bring their own merchandise, tables and other supplies. The event will be held rain or shine, with no refunds. Vendors can participate for one or both days.
Maciolowski, a Cornelius resident, purchased the property last year and said he plans to work with the town on a long-term, retail-focused commercial development.
In the meantime, he plans to host a series of events to gauge interest in potential uses for the site, which could eventually include restaurants, coffee shops and office space.
“I think it’s a cool way to just introduce ideas that doesn’t cost me a ton and won’t cost the people a ton, but I think everybody will get a ton of value out of it,” he said.
