The 15th annual Lake Norman Dam2Dam Charity Ride will take to the water Saturday, Aug. 29, bringing jet ski riders together for a nearly 60-mile journey across Lake Norman and the Catawba River.

The event begins with a bagel breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by rider lineup at 8 a.m. The route starts at Beatty’s Ford Park in Denver and heads south to Cowans Ford Dam before continuing the length of Lake Norman and several miles up the Catawba River to Lookout Shoals Dam. Riders then return south for a catered lunch on Governor’s Island.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Sherrills Ford-Dry Pond, the annual event raises money for local community projects, scholarships and other charitable efforts. The ride has raised more than $100,000 since it began.

Registration is $35 for the first rider and $25 for a second rider. Participants must provide their own jet ski and are responsible for following all boating regulations and safety requirements.

The event is open to riders of all experience levels. Participants can register in advance online or on-site the day of the event. The Dam2Dam website has additional information about the route, schedule and requirements.
