Weekend Weather: Rain Does Little to Lake Levels
Low water levels continue to plague Lake Norman despite a wet week and month.
Cornelius received 5.41 inches of rain this month, including 3.45 inches in the past seven days. The monthly total exceeds the combined rainfall totals from the previous three months. Data was compiled by the RainDrop precipitation tracking service.
The lake, however, has risen only from 94.34 feet to 94.98 feet over the past week, remaining below the target minimum of 95 feet and well below the normal target elevation of 98.5 feet.
Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. East northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the morning. Tonight increasing clouds, with a low around 64. Calm wind.
Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind. Saturday night a 20 percent chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 74. Sunday night mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.
