Kayaker Drowns in Lake Norman

A man drowned in Lake Norman on Wednesday off of Henderson Road near Holiday Marina. The Cornelius Police Department and Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue assisted North Carolina Wildlife in the drowning recovery operation and retrieved the remains of the victim.

Multiple reports stated that the victim was 40 years old and that authorities were called around 3 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing an overturned kayak.

In a Facebook post the Cornelius Police Department stated the family had been notified but did not released the name of the victim or share additional details.
