Dec. 17. The finalists in the town’s annual Deck the House decorating contest are set, and voting is now underway through Dec. 21.

There are 11 challengers across two categories: Traditional and Griswold. The Traditional category features what the town describes as a “normal amount of lights,” while the Griswold category is geared toward a full-blown “pageant of lights, inflatables and motorized elves,” made famous in the classic Christmas Vacation.

Residents are encouraged to visit the homes over the next week between 6 and 9 p.m. to view the displays and vote online for their favorite entries in each category.

Winners will be announced Dec. 22 on the town of Cornelius website and social media channels, as well as in the January e-newsletter.
