G.O.A.T. Pizza, the sports-themed restaurant developed by celebrity chef David Burke, will open its flagship location in Cornelius on April 27.

The 4,100-square-foot restaurant will serve pizza, pasta, sandwiches, smash burgers and salads as well as homemade desserts. A full bar will feature local breweries and extensive bourbon and tequila options.

It is in the same mixed-use complex as The Waterman. Both are across Bailey Road from 131 Main.

G.O.A.T. Pizza is the latest addition to the portfolio of David Burke Hospitality Management properties in North Carolina, joining The Fox & Falcon by David Burke and Port City Club by David Burke. Joe Douglas of 131 Main Restaurant and Robert Maynard of the Famous Toastery are also collaborating in the venture.

Burke’s connections with Charlotte extend beyond his restaurants. In 2020, he collaborated with Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte to create the David Burke Fellowship Program, offering paid internships to recent graduates.

Quotable

“Creating this menu and curating our sports memorabilia collection has been so much fun,” Burke said. “Our dedicated team has played a pivotal role every step of the way, making sure we give folks a great time in a prime location.”

Sporty decor

Embracing the spirit of G.O.A.T.—the Greatest of All Time—the restaurant’s décor pays homage to legendary sports icons with an extensive memorabilia collection. From Mohammad Ali, Magic Johnson, and Wayne Gretsky to beloved hometown heroes, including Christian McCaffrey, Luke Kuechly, Michael Jordan and Steph Curry, every corner of G.O.A.T. Pizza tells a story of greatness and inspiration.

“Chef Burke’s culinary expertise, combined with the extraordinary collection of sports memorabilia, guarantees guests a totally unique way to enjoy a delicious meal with their families and friends,” said David Hynes, president of D.B.H.M.

Starting Saturday, April 27, G.O.A.T. Pizza is open 11 am to 11:30 pm.
