Weekend Fun Feb. 11-13: Valentine’s Day events are hot this weekend

Feb. 12: Elton Live at BoatYard Lake Norman

Trying to figure out what to do? This calendar, published weekly on Mondays, can point you to some of the best options in Lake Norman.

Friday, Feb. 11

Music  

8:30 pm. Thomas Road Band. Buy tickets in advance for $10. BoatYard Lake Norman, 18418 Statesville Rd.

Marquia Humphries ’22 Exhibition Presentation and Reception 

4-6 pm. opening reception with Marquia Humphries ’22. Artist’s talk will be presented in-person and via Zoom. To attend by Zoom please RSVP.  A reception will follow the presentation. Visual Arts Center VAC-117 Semans Lecture Hall, Davidson College.

Feb. 12: Primal Brewery Valentines Celebration

Saturday, Feb. 12

For The Love Of Beer: Valentines Celebration

1-3 pm. Primal Brewery is hosting an Abstract Heart Painting Class. You can create a two-part painting with a partner or an abstract heart on a heart shaped wooden cut-out if you’re kicking it solo.

 Tickets are $15-35. Primal Brewery, 16432 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.

Heart Party

10 am – noon. Make valentines by hand during this free event for all ages at the Cornelius Arts Center. Activities include fun arts and  crafts projects and refreshments.

Pop-Up Shops at Eleven Lakes 

Noon-5 pm.Local entrepreneurs and local artisans. Eleven Lakes Brewing, 10228 Bailey Rd. Suite 201.

HEARTS

1-6 pm. The launch of the HEARTS (History, Ecology, Art, Reunion, Trails and Store) Park mission, a project to provide place-based experiences to explore how nature, history, culture and the built environment work together providing concrete context to better understand the region’s deep history and connections to broader themes.

Admission is $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 4-12.  Purchase tickets here.

Dog park opening

10am. Ribbon cutting and grand opening of Rosedale Nature & Dog Park, 9519 Rosewood Meadow Ln., Huntersville.

Parents Night Out

6- 9 pm. Drop your kids  ages 7-12 off at the Cornelius Arts Center for Parents’ Night Out and plan a romantic early Valentine’s date. $25 for Cornelius residents and $30 for others. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

Feb. 12: Trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis performs with the Jazz Ensemble

Delfeayo Marsalis with the Jazz Ensemble 

7:30 – 9 pm. The Jazz Ensemble is excited and grateful to welcome back trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, the unofficial Dean of contemporary New Orleans jazz. Knobloch Campus Center DFPH-Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College.

Cardio Funk 

9-10 am. Saturdays. This high-energy class takes place at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $5/class or $40 for a 10-class pass. pay at the door.

Open Gym Senior Pickleball 

1-3 pm Sundays at JV Washam Recreation Center.

9 pm Thursday and Friday; 10 am to 9 pm Saturday; 10 am to 5 pm Sunday. Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St. Admission is $10 for adults; $9 for seniors 60 and older and military; $5 for ages 6-12; and free for children 5 and younger.
