Jan. 26. The Lake Norman YMCA Stars gymnastics team walked away with multiple accolades during the three-day Furman Classic held at Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, SC.

Their sweep included 28 first place event finishes, 29 event second place finishes, 14 third place event finishes and 6 first-place All Around winners.

All this happened in spite of meets being cancelled last spring. The majority of team members had not competed in a sanctioned meet for almost an entire year.

Coach Amber Roland exhibited “unrelenting service to keep the families’ minds at ease while ensuring each gymnast’s safety, and providing the opportunity to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body through YMCA programs,” according to the YMCA.
