YMCA open house Oct. 29

Oct. 14. The Lake Norman YMCA has completed work on a 10-month, $2 million renovation that includes state-of-the-art Barre and Cycle Studios, plus functional fitness areas with space for custom workouts.

There is also a new “Y Kids” area designed with safety and fun in mind, in addition to existing spaces for group exercise classes like yoga and strength training, indoor and outdoor pools, basketball gymnasium, gymnastics center and our upstairs free weights and cardio machines.

There will be an open house Oct. 29 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the branch, which is located at 21300 Davidson St. in Cornelius.

The local YMCA was built in 1975, and serves approximately 8,000 people a year.

“These updates set us up for future success by maximizing the space we have, growing areas where we see the greatest need, and looking at how the branch will be able to best serve the community moving forward,” said Matt Fitzwater, executive director of the Y.
