William James Mathot, Jr., 54

William James Mathot, Jr. (Jim), 54, of Huntersville, NC passed away December 24, 2015 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte.  Jim was born September 20, 1961 in Pittsburgh, PA to William (Bill) James Mathot, Sr. and the late M. Eileen McDonough Mathot.  He was a Postal Carrier in Huntersville and a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at the University of Arizona.  Jim loved his family immensely, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers fan, enjoyed all water sports including water skiing, water polo and swimming competitively in high school.  Jim had a positive impact on everyone he met, he always found a way to help, and continues to be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his loving family: wife, Heather McFern Mathot; daughter, Morgan Alexandra Mathot of Huntersville; father, Bill Mathot of Salt Lake City, UT; sisters, Patti Sloot (Mike) of Scottsdale, AZ, Karen Mathot (Craig) of Salt Lake City, UT, Connie Buckner (John) of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, David Mathot of Salt Lake City, UT; 19 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews (whom he was the favorite uncle!); mother-in-law, Laura McFern; sister-in-law, Amber McFern; brothers-in-law, Greg McFern and Arn McFern.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 222 S.
