According to U.S. Geological Survey rain gauges, a little more than 2.5 inches of rain fell in the Lake Norman area over the weekend, and more rain is in the forecast. Areas to the north along the Catawba River basin — which is most responsible for determining lake levels — only received around an inch of rain.
Today: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Tonight showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1am and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday: A slight chance of showers before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm.
