Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 21: Carolina Renaissance Festival

We’ve included some dates for future events you need to register for in advance. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Nov. 2

Adult Open Gym Basketball (Drop-In) 

6:30-9 pm Tuesdays. This is an opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, enhance old skills and have a great time while playing basketball. Free. Bailey Road Recreation Center, 11900 Bailey Rd. Ages 18 and older.

Nov. 4

Davidson College Music Department

7:30 pm. Traditional Series: Kruger Brothers. Their songs are original but entirely within the heart of the spirit of traditional Appalachian music. For tickets, follow the link or call the Union Box Office at 704-894-2135. Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College.

Nov. 6

Mt. Zion’s 82nd Annual BBQ

10 am. Pre-orders taken through Oct. 31. Hot plates including BBQ, slaw, yams, bread and sauce, as well as individual BBQ sandwiches will  be served to-go. Weather permitting, dining will be available on the front lawn.

BBQ for $12 a pound and coleslaw, for $5 a pint will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis until sold out.

Pre-orders can be picked up starting at 10 am.

Through Nov. 6

Mud at the Mill 

This juried show showcases both functional and sculptural works by local artists that incorporate clay. Exhibit runs through Nov. 6. Gallery hours 10 am-4pm Monday – Friday. Cornelius Arts Center gallery, 21445 Catawba Ave. Free.

Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 21

Carolina Renaissance Festival

10 am – 5:30 pm. The interactive event is a combination of outdoor theater, circus, open air arts and crafts fair, jousting tournament and food. Tickets $27 adults starting at 13 years; $17 ages 5-12 years; 4 and younger free.  Renaissance Festival fairgrounds,16445 Poplar Tent Road, Huntersville.
