Here’s highlights of what is going on around Lake Norman this week.. For events that repeat weekly, we’ve created an ONGOING category; scroll down and you’ll find it. 

Through Oct. 27

Annual Artoberfest

Noon – 4 pm | Tuesday-Friday.  10am – 2pm | Saturday. Local artists’ work on display at Mooresville Arts Depot, 103 W. Center Ave., Mooresville.

Through Oct. 31

Carrigans / Scarrigans Farm

Pumpkin picking daily. Pumpkin patch includes hayride to petting Zoo and pumpkin field. Haunted Trail for ages 12 and older. Advanced reservations are required for both actives. Pumpkin picking cost is $14 per person and includes a pumpkin. Haunted Trail price ranges from $20 to $40 per person depending on the date. 1261 Oakridge Farm Hwy., Mooresville.

Through Oct. 31

Annual Pumpkin Patch 

Hodges Family Farm main entrance, 3780 Rocky River Rd. East, Charlotte. Open daily 9 am – 6 pm.  Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, hay mountain to climb and jump on, barnyard animals, photo opportunities, picnic areas. Saturday and Sundays you can also expect: $5 parking, hayrides, Farm Shop, treats for purchase.

Men of Change art exhibit

Check websites for gallery schedules. | B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture  and Levine Museum of the New South to bring  Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth. The Gantt will display Storytellers, Fathering, and Imagining; Levine Museum will display Catalysts, Myth-Breakers, and Community; both museums in Charlotte will display Loving. Admission is free.

Celebrate the opening reception of Susan Harbage Page’s exhibition, “Embodied Cartography in Territorial Disputes.” Harbage Page’s exhibition focuses on her photographs, drawings, videos and interventions related to the US-Mexico Border, from the perspective as a white academic woman who can bike, canoe and walk across and on a place where many others cannot safely do so. Carolina Balloonfest

Laketoberfest Music & Brew Festival 

4-9 pm | Oct. 15. This annual community event features live music, beer from local NC breweries, food trucks, kid’s zone with crafts and games. Free admission and parking. The event proceeds benefit Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists. Bailey Road Park, 11536 Bailey Road.

Claudia’s 5K: Call Out For Courage 

8:30 am | Oct. 15. Walk or run  3.1 miles in the effort to bring awareness to the importance of good mental health and mental health care. Price increases after Oct. 13. Jetton Park 19000 Jetton Rd., Cornelius.

Hola Charlotte Festival

Noon-6pm. | Oct. 15. Hispanic Heritage celebration with internationally renowned artists performing. Free.  Activities for everyone in the family throughout the street style festival and food vendors. Uptown Charlotte, 200 South Tryon St.

Chili Cook-0ff

Mondays: Bike ride, bridge, cardio funk

Monday Night Social bike ride

6:15 pm. Roll Out. The F3 aka D9 Swell Riders lead a group that encourages all cyclists to come ride. Bailey Road Park; meet at the parking lot by the basketball courts. Distance/pace: 15 miles; social ride with faster group options; no drop.

Depending on how big of a group there is, they may break off into an A, B, and C group. All abilities are welcome — they ride and regroup so that no one is left behind. Post-ride, cool off with a beer at D9 Brewing. D9 donates $1 for every beer to Bike MS, a fundraising initiative of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Join the Lake Norman Bridge Center 

Noon-4pm Thursdays at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., if you have an interest in learning the game of bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills. All ages and skill levels are welcome. $5 per day, pay at the door.

Cardio Funk 

6:30-7:30 pm. Drop in for this high-energy class at Bailey Road Recreation Center.  $10 per class, pay at the door.

Pickleball Open Play 

8:30-11:30 am. Cornelius Parks & Recreation and Lake Norman Pickleball Association are now offering Pickleball Open Play at Robbins Park, 17738 West Catawba Ave. Players of all skill levels are welcome, Participants will need to bring their own paddle. This is a free, drop-in program; no registration is required.

“Secret” Society of Crafters

Wednesdays: Cycling, open mic, music bingo

Wednesday Night bike ride

6 pm.  Meet in front of Spirited Cyclist Bike Shop, 610 Jetton St, Davidson, in the Harris Teeter parking lot. Distance/pace: 16 miles; moderate 16-18 mph. While this is a no-drop ride and open to anyone on a road bike, it is not a beginner ride and the average group pace is 17mph. The terrain is rolling and we will regroup a few times throughout the ride.

Cycling Club

6 pm. The Cornelius Cycling Club meets and rolls out from Lost World’s Brewery for a 22+ mile ride. Groups of riders are organized by pace. Lost Worlds Brewing, 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.
