Dance Without Limits

Noon – 1 pm | May 11.  A Culture Blocks program presented by Order My Steps designed for seniors of all levels.  Improve strength, coordination and mobility while learning new steps and styles. David B. Waymer Recreation Center, 14008 Holbrooks Rd., Huntersville.

Tapas Cooking Class

6 pm | May 11. This unique event is presented by Sun Raised Foods. Guests will be led by a chef at each station to create a dish and eat it before moving to the next one in a free flowing format for a Mediterranean style meal; you’ll leave with recipes. Open house

3-5:30 pm | May 11. The Smithville Community Coalition celebrates an open house and ribbon-cutting at its new office, 21031 Catawba Ave. Suite 104, during Affordable Housing Awareness Month. The public is invited; ribbon-cutting at 4:15 pm.

Concert

Senior Dance

3:30 – 4:30 pm | Thursdays. This free class is designed for senior adults to improve flexibility, breath, balance, mobility, and fluidity by exploring various elements of ballet, jazz, modern, and improvisation. Participants can choose to take the class seated, standing, or a combination of both. Presented by Charlotte Ballet. Northern Regional Recreation Center, 18121 Old Statesville Rd., Cornelius.

Live Under the Oaks Concert

Brewers & Music Festival

3 pm. May 12 – 11 pm May 13 | Celebration of North Carolina’s craft beer scene featuring Steep Canyon Rangers, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, 49 Winchester, Susto and more. Tickets  $10 – $25. Rural Hill, Neck Rd., Huntersville.

Saturday, May 13

Annual Charlotte Dragon Boat and Asian Festivals

11 am – 5 pm | May 13. This annual family-oriented event is a celebration of Asian cultures. The festival celebrates Asian cultures, diversity, ethnicity, history and dragon boat races. Parking is available at 8900 North Pointe Executive Park, Huntersville, with complimentary shuttle service to the festival site at Ramsey Creek Park. 

Movie night at Birkdale

7:30 pm | May 13. Participate in the world’s greatest singing competition with a viewing of “Sing.” Free. Seating is first come, first serve. Bring additional blankets and chairs; no coolers allowed.The Plaza, Birkdale Village.

Davina & the Vagabonds
