Weekly Agenda, May 23-30: Baby shower, music and Memorial Day observances

Trying to figure out what to do? This calendar, published weekly on Mondays, can point you to some of the best options in Lake Norman.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

May 23

Cardio Funk 

6:30-7:30 pm Mondays. Drop in for this high-energy class at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $10 per class, pay at the door.

May 23, 24 and 26

Open Track Nights on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

6-8 pm. James Hoyt Wilhelm Park’s 1/4-mile walking track will be lighted on Mondays and Bailey Road Park’s regulation track will be lighted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both open to the public.

May 24

Huntersville Growers’ Market 

9 am – 1 pm Tuesdays at the Novant Hospital parking lot, 10003 Gilead Road.

Adult Open Gym Basketball 

6:30 to 9 p.m. Adults may drop in on Tuesdays for basketball at Bailey Road Recreation Center, 11536 Bailey Road, inside Bailey Middle School.  Ages 18 and older. Free.

May 25

The Susan M. Tillis Foundation’s Red, White and Bundled Baby Shower

6 pm to 7:30 pm  to collect baby supplies for 1,200 baby bundles to go to military service families. Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave. Attendees are asked to bring a baby item to donate such as: Newborn and preemie diapers, wipes, onesies (0-3); Sleepers (0-3), bibs, blankets; Gift cards to purchase car seats and strollers. A donation box is available in the lobby of the Cornelius Town Hall for those who may not be able to attend the shower.

May 26

Join the Lake Norman Bridge Center 

12:30-4pm Thursdays at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., if you have an interest in learning the game of bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills. All ages and skill levels are welcome. $5 per day, pay at the door.

May 26: Delta Fire performs at LangTree LKN

Concert 

6-9 pm. Delta Fire. LangTree Lake Norman, 401 Langtree Rd., Mooresville.

May 26-28

River Jam

7 pm. Live music takes place at a one-of-a-kind outdoor venue at the Whitewater Center.

Memorial Day Program in Cornelius

10 am. The town of Cornelius and American Legion Post 86 will honor the nation’s servicemen and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom at an observance on the Cornelius Town Hall lawn across from the Cornelius Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza.

Memorial Day ceremony in Huntersville

10:30 am start with patriotic music. The town of Huntersville and American Legion Post 321 will hold a  21st Annual Memorial Day Ceremony taking place at Veterans Park, 201 Huntersville-Concord Road.The ceremony will begin promptly at 11 am.
