Field of Honor 9/11 Memorial

On the 21st anniversary of the 2001 attacks, the magnitude of loss is revealed by this solemn formation of flags.  Flags will be posted at Veterans Park and Town Center Lawn, Downtown Huntersville for all to pause and remember.

Sept. 2

Rock the Park summer concert series 

80z Nation, relive the ‘80s. Food trucks will open at 6 pm and the show begins at 6:30 pm. Outside food and beverage is permitted with the exception of alcohol. Small coolers are allowed. Liberty Park, 25 E. Iredell Ave., downtown Mooresville.

Iredell County Fair

Live music

Downtown Mooresville Food Truck Festival

5-8:30 pm takes on North Main. Portions of Main Street will be closed. Bring a chair, hang out in the street, listen to some music.

Sunday Music Series 

1 pm. JMS Trio. Veterans Park, 119 N. Main St., Kannapolis.

Labor Day Trail Race

8 am. Challenge yourself with either the 5K or the 15K race that weaves through wooded trails along the Catawba River.   Whitewater Center, Charlotte.

River Jam

6 pm opener Goldpark. 8 pm Colony House. Whitewater Center, Charlotte.

Sept. 3-4

The Battle of Charlotte

10 am Saturday – 6 pm Sunday. This weekend will mark the 242nd Anniversary of this pivotal time in not only the history of The American Revolution but also Charlotte Mecklenburg County. $8-$10[ purchase tickets in advance. Historic Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Road, Huntersville.

River Jam

6pm opener Of Good Nature. 8-10 pm Michael Front + Spearhead Whitewater Center, Charlotte.

The Dry Tri 

6 am – noon. Paddle, bike, and run against the competition in a Whitewater Center Triathlon. The Whitewater Center, Charlotte.

Sept. 5

Labor Day Ice Cream Run 

9 am. Mercy’s Daylight Donuts, 482-A1, River Hwy., Mooresville.

ONGOING 

Mondays: Bike ride, cardio funk

Monday Night Social bike ride

6:15 pm. Roll Out. The F3 aka D9 Swell Riders lead a group that encourages all cyclists to come ride. Bailey Road Park; meet at the parking lot by the basketball courts. Distance/pace: 15 miles; social ride with faster group options; no drop.

Depending on how big of a group there is, they may break off into an A, B, and C group. All abilities are welcome — they ride and regroup so that no one is left behind. Post-ride, cool off with a beer at D9 Brewing. D9 donates $1 for every beer to Bike MS, a fundraising initiative of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Cardio Funk 

6:30-7:30 pm. Drop in for this high-energy class at Bailey Road Recreation Center.  $10 per class, pay at the door.

Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays

Pickleball Open Play 

8:30-11:30 am. Cornelius Parks & Recreation and Lake Norman Pickleball Association are now offering Pickleball Open Play at Robbins Park, 17738 West Catawba Ave. Players of all skill levels are welcome, Participants will need to bring their own paddle. This is a free, drop-in program; no registration is required.

Monday – Friday

Art Exhibit

10 am-4 pm. Reflections & Movements is an abstract exhibit by Junior Gomez, bringing forth vibrance and dimension through the application of color and brush stroke techniques. Artwork will be displayed in the Cornelius Art Center gallery from June 20 – August 5, 2022. Cornelius Art Center Gallery, 19725 Oak Street, Cornelius.

Tuesdays: Running, trivia, pickleball, workout classes, corn hole, growers market

Be Well Birkdale 

6-7 pm free workout class. Check in starts at 5:45 pm. Workout class by various studios and instructors. Don’t forget your mat. You’ll receive a punch card during your first class and if you come to four Be Well Birkdale classes, you get a special prize. The Grove across from Kilwins, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Run Club

6:30 pm. Tuesdays are for Beer Trekkers and a cold brew after your run! Lost Worlds Brewing, 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.

Trivia

7:30 pm. Put your general knowledge skills to the test with Thinkin’ & Drinkin’ Trivia. Old Town Public House, 21314 Catawba Ave, Cornelius.

Cornhole Social League

6:30-8pm. No sign up required, just show up on time! Primal Brewery 16432 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.

Huntersville Growers’ Market 

9 am – 1 pm Tuesdays at the Novant Hospital parking lot, 10003 Gilead Road.

Adult Open Gym Basketball 

6:30-9 pm. Bailey Road Recreation Center. Ages 18 and older. Free.

“Secret” Society of Crafters 

10 am to noon, weather permitting. Connect with crafters in the area, find the motivation to pick up that project again, and benefit from the wisdom of a passionate crafting group. Hearts On Fiber, 208 South Village Ln. Suite A, Davidson.

Wednesdays: Birkdale Buds, cycling, open mic

Birkdale Buds 

10:30 am- noon.  Bring your pre-school aged child for playtime in the Grove. Weekly activities may include face painters, storytellers, magicians, arts and crafts. Crafts and activities will be available while supplies last. Bring a blanket to sit on. Free. The Grove across from Kilwins in Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Wednesday Night bike ride

6 pm.  Meet in front of Spirited Cyclist Bike Shop, 610 Jetton St, Davidson, in the Harris Teeter parking lot. Distance/pace: 16 miles; moderate 16-18 mph. While this is a no-drop ride and open to anyone on a road bike, it is not a beginner ride and the average group pace is 17mph. The terrain is rolling and we will regroup a few times throughout the ride.

Cycling Club

6 pm. The Cornelius Cycling Club meets and rolls out from Lost World’s Brewery for a 22+ mile ride. Groups of riders are organized by pace. Lost Worlds Brewing, 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.

Open Mic Night

7- 10 pm with Tommy Key.

Senior Open Gym Pickleball 

6-8 pm indoors at JV Washam Recreation Center, 9611 Westmoreland Road. Ages 50 and up. Balls and paddles available to borrow. Free.

Join the Lake Norman Bridge Center 

12:30-4pm Thursdays at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., if you have an interest in learning the game of bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills. All ages and skill levels are welcome. $5 per day, pay at the door.

Saturdays: Farmers markets, cardio funk, biking

Davidson Farmers Market

9 am – noon. 120 S. Main St., Davidson, next to Town Hall between Main St. & Jackson Streets.Rain or shine. No pets please.

Huntersville Growers’ Market

8 am – noon Saturdays at Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell, 201 Huntersville-Concord Rd., Huntersville.

Cardio Funk 

9-10 am. Drop in for this high-energy class at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $10 per class, pay at the door.

Saturday Morning bike ride

8 am.  Meet in front of Spirited Cyclist Bike Shop, 610 Jetton St, Davidson, in the Harris Teeter parking lot. Distance/pace: 32 miles; moderate/tempo 16-18mph no drop. Option for longer /faster rides.
