Weekender Sept. 4-6: Carolina Ascent home opener

Sept. 4. The Carolina Ascent women’s professional soccer team plays their home opener Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. One half of Florida Georgia Line hits the stage at BoatYard. Classical music, Buffett and more.

Thursday, Sept. 4

Kids in America

6 – 9:30 pm | Sept. 4. Live cover band plays all styles of the 80s – pop, hair metal, new wave and dance. LangTree Lake Norman.

Friday, Sept. 5

Live Under the Oaks

6-8 pm | Sept. 5. Live entertainment. Bring your chairs or blankets. The Plaza, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Rock the Park

6:30 pm | Sept. 5. Buffett & Beyond will close out the season with a perfect end-of-summer celebration. Their tropical rock style and Jimmy Buffett classics will have the crowd singing along to favorites like “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Local food vendors will also be on-site offering delicious refreshments. Liberty Park, 255 E. Iredell Ave., Mooresville 28115.

First Fridays

5-7 pm | Sept. 5. A gallery crawl type of event showcasing artworks from local artists, music and shopping; most businesses will stay open. Main Street and South Main Street, Davidson.

Sept. 6: Carolina Ascent home opener

Carolina Ascent opening night

7 pm | Sept. 6. Welcome back your Carolina Ascent FC as they take on Tampa Bay Sun FC in their home opening match of the 2025/26 season. The Base Camp Bash starts at 2:30 pm and includes food trucks, inflatables, live music and more at the Central Piedmont Community College Quad adjacent to the stadium. Buy tickets to the game here. American Legion Memorial Stadium, 218-1238 Armory Dr. Charlotte.

North Carolina Baroque Orchestra

Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater” & Songs by Henry Purcell

3 pm | Sept. 7. Davidson-based soprano Sarah Lynch and British countertenor Charles Humphries join the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra Chamber Players for performances of Pergolesi’s stunningly beautiful “Stabat Mater” and favorite songs by Henry Purcell, including “Cold Genius” and “Music for a While.” Davidson College Presbyterian Church (Sanctuary), 100 N. Learn Music Legends Block Party
