Weekender: Halloween is coming

Oct. 30. Here is a look at some exciting things happening this weekend around Lake Norman. Check event links for any last-minute updates or changes.

Thursday, Oct. 30

Safety and Transportation Town Hall

6:30-8 pm | Oct. 30. Rep. Beth Helfrich will host a Town Hall focused on public safety and transportation, joined by all three District 98 police chiefs, the Department of Transportation Division Engineer and a Mecklenburg County Commissioner-at-Large. Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson.

Fright Night at the Farm

5-7 pm | Oct. 30. Eerie fun, delicious treats, themed drinks, dancing and a chance to shine in the costume contest, which starts at 6 pm. RSVP here. River Rock at Alexander Farms, 8612 Chagrin Dr., Cornelius.

Friday, Oct. 31

Live Under the Oaks

6-8 pm | Oct. 31. Live entertainment. Bring your chairs or blankets. The Plaza, Birkdale Village.

Friday Night Fright

7-10 pm | Oct. 31. Halloween meets pickleball at Friday Night Fright. Enjoy spooky-good fun, friendly matches, and festive vibes. Costumes encouraged. Pricing $20 to $30. The Serve Pickleball + Kitchen.

Voodoo at the Boatyard

7:30 pm | Oct. 31. The Monster Bash features live music from Blue Monday and a costume contest with $1,000 in prize money. Tickets $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Boatyard LKN.

Halloween Party & Costume Contest

7 pm | Oct. 31. Celebrate Halloween with live music by Retro Road and a costume contest. Harp & Crown.

Saturday, Nov. 1

Mt. Zion’s Annual BBQ

11 am | Nov. 1. Dining room and drive-thru open for the 86th annual event with 100% of the proceeds supporting local missions and ministries. Plates available in dining room. Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Cornelius.

9th Annual Davidson Cookie Crawl

11am – 4pm | Nov. 1. Kick off the holiday shopping season and support local retailers. Each $40 ticket guarantees one cookie per participating location. All proceeds benefit the Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center.

Halloween Bash at Kids Camp

12:30-2 pm | Nov. 1. Enjoy a family-friendly event with local vendors, a trick-or-treat path, and a trunk decorating contest. Burn Boot Camp in Cornelius.
