Weekend weather: It improves Saturday

Sept. 30. It looks more and more like Ian will be a smaller event in Lake Norman than originally expected. Rainfall will only be in the 1-2 inch range this afternoon with more coming tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Look for gusty winds today and tomorrow with showers possibly ending tomorrow morning.

Saturday: Showers likely, mainly before 8 am. High near 64. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, high 65. North wind 5 to 8 mph.

Monday: Partly sunny, high near 62.

Tuesday: Sunny, high near 68.

Wednesday: Sunny, high near 71.

Thursday: Sunny, high near 74.
