Here’s what’s up this weekend:

Friday, Sept. 24

Live Under the Oaks

6-8 pm. Thirsty Horses. September is Hunger Action Month.  Each Friday in September, Birkdale Village will be collecting donations from in effort to end hunger in our community. If you bring five items at once, you will receive a special swag item. Suggested donation items:  Spaghetti, ravioli, chili, canned fish or meat, peanut butter, canned low sodium soups or stews, canned or dry beans, canned fruits in juice, canned low sodium vegetables.

Davidson College Symphony Orchestra: Season Opener 

7:30 – 9 pm at the Knobloch Campus Center DFPH-Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College. Admission is free, but tickets are required. For tickets, please call the Union Box Office at 704-894-2135.

Saturday, Sept. 25

Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival

2-8 pm. An art crawl, which snakes through the heart of Cornelius, featuring dozens of local vendors, live street performances, shopping, amazing food and more.

 

Sept. 25: 2021 Veterans Park Car & Truck Show

2021 Veterans Park Car & Truck Show 

8 am – 1 pm. Participants are invited to cruise-in, eat, stroll and chat with the option to enter an award category for judging. All makes, models and year vehicles are welcome. 8 -10:30 am:  American Legion Post 321 will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast; donations appreciated. 8am:  Award registration opens. 10 am: Live music with The Tim Cook Band. Starting at 11 am: Sons of the Legion will have burgers, brews and not dogs  for sale.  Judging at noon with awards and closing at 1 pm. Veterans Park, Main and Maxwell streets, Huntersville. Roads set to temporarily close 7:45 am-1 pm during the event: Main Street (between Bigham Street and Huntersville- Concord Road). Use  Maxwell Avenue  or North Church Street.

Race City Festival

9 am-5 pm. Admission is free  for this family fun, outdoor street fair in downtown Mooresville that  showcases Lake Norman’s business, music, arts, and culture scene.  There will be NASCAR displays and souvenirs, live music on the entertainment stage throughout the day, dance performances, food trucks and international food court, chain saw art, and more than 100 arts and crafts vendors.
