Spend the weekend warming your bellies with soup and chili cook-offs, and cool off in between with a polar plunge. Here are our best bets for a good time this weekend (assuming we’re not snowed in).

Saturday

Chili Cook-off

Royal Bliss (Denver)

Teams will compete for the People’s Choice award. The winning team will go home with a $100 cash prize and have their team name added to the Chili Cook-Off Champions Plaque in the taproom.  Guests are welcome to attend and purchase tasting tickets day-of during the event. All proceeds from entry fees and tasting tickets benefit the food pantry at Christian Ministry of Lincoln County.

Queen City Chill

Ramsey Creek Park (Cornelius)

The polar plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support Special Olympics Lake Norman athletes by taking a dip into frigid waters. Entry is $75 with multiple prizes. Registration opens at 1 p.m. and the plunge is at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday

Hop & Vine Annual Soup Cook-Off

Hop & Vine (Davidson)

The Ultimate Battle of Soups kicks off with set-up at 1 p.m. and runs through the afternoon, with winners announced at 5 p.m. A $10 entry gets you one spoon and one vote—giving you the chance to taste all the soups and cast your vote for the best one. Cash prizes awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners.
