Aug. 27. By Dave Vieser. Town officials expect resurfacing on Washam Potts Road to be completed early next week, about three weeks behind schedule.
Cornelius Public Works Director Tyler Beardsley said inclement weather and scheduling issues caused the delay.
“The paving work should be completed in the next two to three nights, or by the end of this week,” Beardsley said. “Striping will come soon after.”
Washam Potts Road is a key east-west artery in Cornelius, often used by residents to avoid congestion on Catawba Avenue. The road is maintained by the state, and the repaving is a DOT project.
If Washam Potts Road is not a state highway (like 21 or 115) why is the state DOT maintaining it?
