COOPER
Walter L Cooper of Cornelius, NC, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, March 21, 2015, after a 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 78. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11th at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC at 12:00 noon followed by a reception with family and friends.
Walter was born in Flint, MI in 1937, and after attending St. Michaels Catholic High School, attended Michigan State University, graduating with a Master’s in Education. Walter retired from Rochester (MI) Community Schools in 1992 after serving 25 years in various teaching and administrative roles.
An avid racket ball player, quick with a smile and a kind word, to Walter a stranger was just a friend yet to be made. Walter enjoyed the last 17 years living in his adopted “home town” of Cornelius, NC.
He is survived by his wife Sue of 55 years, four children, 9 grandchildren, and countless friends- he will be missed and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 6000 Fairview Rd., Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210.
