Vote Expected Monday on Master Plan
By Dave Vieser — The Cornelius Town Board is expected to take its final vote on the 2050 Downtown Master Plan at its meeting tonight.
The draft plan outlines a long-term vision for the future of downtown Cornelius, including recommendations for redevelopment, land use, transportation, public spaces, arts, branding and more. It focuses on approximately 220 acres in the town center and is intended to guide future redevelopment and public investment over the coming decades. The plan itself does not change zoning but is expected to influence future land-use decisions and capital projects.
The plan was shaped by public feedback gathered during a community engagement process stretching back more than two years. It was originally unveiled last fall, and town officials revised the draft several times in response to concerns raised by residents during public meetings and the review process.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. tonight in Town Hall and will be live streamed on cornelius.org. There were be a public comment session before the vote.
