Visit Lake Norman announces photo contest winners

Oct. 29. Visit Lake Norman unveiled the winners of its 11th annual Capture Lake Norman photo contest.

This year’s contest received more than 145 photo submissions from residents and visitors showcasing scenic views, lake activities and lifestyle. Participants entered photos by posting on social media using #CaptureLKN or submitting them through the contest entry page on Visit Lake Norman’s website.

Jamie Reynolds won first place for Chasing the Last Light; Drew Rossman won second for The Calm Before the Sail; and Deanna Hurst won third for Sailing into Serenity.

  1. “Chasing the last light” by Jamie Reynolds is magnificent. I would frame it with a bit less water in the foreground to draw to viewer into the subject of the “Chase”.

    “The calm before the storm” by Drew Rossman is aptly named. Every piece in the shot, including the ripples on the water’s surface is punching the viewer towards the open channel. Well done.

    “Sailing into Serenity” by Deanna Hurst is lovely. I could see the story enhanced by framing in a rectangle with a bit less sky and a bit less water. Again, a lovely serene view.
