Virginia Mae Broome Burris, 81, of Charlotte died February 9, 2014. She was born on September 6, 1933 in Charlotte to Ray Broome and Bessie Price. She went to school at Nevin Elementary and Derita. She married her husband Lloyd Burris of 64 years at age 16. She worked as a qualified and certified beautician for over 40 years. She retired from the Charlotte Observer after 25 years of dedication. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband, son and grandchildren.

She served as a women’s Sunday school teacher for over 15 years. She was a beautiful singer in her church choir. Ginny could sing like a “bird”. She was a ongoing member of Hunter Acres Baptist Church. She was a woman with many talents. Ginny was an amazing seamstress who could take a needle and thread and fix anything. She loved people! Her passion was helping those in need and caring for others. She opened a food ministry through 2nd Harvest Food Bank and was dedicated to feeding the hungry for over 15 years.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Lloyd Burris; daughter, April Moseley and grandchildren, Joshua, Cierra and Amira Burris.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 Saturday, February 14 at Hunter Acres Baptist Church with visitation being held 1-2 PM prior at the church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Hunter Acres Baptist Church for the food ministry.
