Two charged with murder of neighbor

Nov. 28. [Updated 7 am Tuesday] Two men have been arrested after a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon. The men, 53-year-old Arnaldo Munoz and 19-year-old Geovany Munoz, are neighbors of the victim, who was identified as James Johnson, 55.

Police responded to 18007 Lynn Lane where Johnson lived. Officers found his body outside of the residence after a dispute.

Arnaldo Munoz is the property owner at 9823 Psalms St. His backyard adjoins the rear of the property where Johnson lives, which is ownd by Tina N. Barringer, according to Mecklenburg County property records.

The neighborhood was developed by Habitat for Humanity.

Both Arnaldo Munoz and Geovany Munoz have been charged with First Degree Murder and are being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Update: Mecklenburg Sheriff’s records indicate the pair were arrested at 8:20 pm Saturday.

Police did not disclose the nature of the dispute.
