Nov. 20. Looking to burn a few calories before hitting the dinner table on Thanksgiving? Here is a listing of Turkey Trot walks and races being held in the Cornelius area next week. Each offers distances for novice and experienced runners alike, as well as fun runs for the kids.

Lake Norman Turkey Trot

• Date & Time: Thursday, Nov. 27
  • Half Marathon: 7:30 a.m.
  • 10K: 7:35 a.m.
  • 5K: 7:40 a.m.
  • Virtual Run: All day
• Location: Life Fellowship Church, Cornelius
• Details:
  • The 19th Annual event offers multiple race distances, including a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and virtual run.
  • Proceeds benefit local charities and community organizations.
  • Participants are encouraged to dress in festive attire.

Mooresville/Lake Norman Turkey Trot 5K

• Date & Time: Thursday, Nov. 27, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
• Location: The Christian Mission, Mooresville
• Details:
  • Features a 5K race and a Kids Fun Run (ages 10 and under).
  • Proceeds support The Christian Mission, providing food, clothing, housing assistance, case management, and educational programs to local individuals and families in need.

Angels & Sparrows Thanksgiving Family 5K

• Date & Time: Thursday, Nov. 27  starting at 8 a.m.
• Location: Fleet Feet Sports, Birkdale Village, Huntersville
• Details:
  • A family-friendly, untimed 5K benefiting Angels & Sparrows Community Table & Resource Center.
  • The event includes coffee, donuts, music, and local vendors.
  • Dogs and strollers are welcome.
