Treemendous holiday events lie ahead

Birkdale Village on Thursday Nov. 10: Is your tree up yet? |Jason Benavides

Nov. 10. There are only about 63,000 minutes till Christmas, so it’s time to get ready. The Birkdale Village Christmas tree is up, all 26 feet of it.

It will be lit Nov. 19, the same day a 4,160-square-foot ice rink will open.

Santa shows up Nov. 20 for an extended stay, but it’s a good idea to make a reservation.

North Meck Christmas Parade

The old-fashioned North Mecklenburg Holiday parade starts in the center of Davidson and runs down Main Street to downtown Cornelius. It starts at 1 pm on Dec. 3.

Christmas in Davidson

Our favorite holiday event is Christmas in Davidson, which runs Dec. 1-3 in downtown Davidson. The event bustles with roving entertainment, holiday light shows and food, not to mention a live Nativity 6-9 pm.
