Town Hall set to reopen after election, on Nov. 9

Oct. 5. By Dave Vieser. Cornelius officials are aiming to reopen Town Hall on Monday Nov. 9, according to Town Manager Andrew Grant. The Catawba Avenue facility which houses most town departments has been closed to the public since late March.

“Town Hall will be used in October as part of the early voting process coordinated by the County Board of Elections,” Grant said at the monthly informational breakfast chat held on Oct. 5.

“Once this voting period has been completed, we will give the facility a full cleaning for a few days, then plan to reopen on Monday Nov. 9.”

During the pandemic, the town has only opened Town Hall on a limited basis implementing spacial distancing for Town Board and certain other committee meetings. Most of these events have also been transmitted to citizens via the zoom system.

Grant emphasized that the Nov. 9 reopening would be predicated on a continued favorable trend in COVID-19 numbers and that more specific information would be forthcoming as the opening date approaches.
