Town Board meeting tonight

TODAY. At their meeting tonight, Cornelius commissioners are expected to consider waiving their right of first refusal so that the county can sell a 3,765 square foot portion of Robbins Park to the neighboring Preserve at Robbins Park development. The property is needed to allow the development to complete their storm water drainage system. In 2007 the county leased the property to Cornelius to develop and operate the park. During this same timeframe, Westmoreland Lake LLC had been developing a single family residential neighborhood adjacent to the park called the Preserve at Robbins Park. During the development it was discovered that the neighborhood’s storm drainage infrastructure could not be contained within Westmoreland Lake’s property. The developers need to acquire the property in order to construct the required storm drainage infrastructure which includes underground pipes and an above ground rain garden. The projected cost is $10,800. In addition, the commissioners are expected to adopt a resolution proclaiming the last week of October as Red Ribbon Week. Young Marines throughout North Carolina, including Cornelius residents Devon Saychay and Darian Saychay, will be actively participating in this nationally recognized illicit drug awareness event. The meeting will commence at 7 pm, at Town Hall on Catawba Avenue.
