April 1. By Jon Show. A German discount grocery store will anchor a new mixed-use development on farmland opposite Bailey Road Park. The name of the grocer was not immediately available but town planners boasted that Cornelius will now be the only bedroom community west of Germany with three German discount grocery stores—Aldi is on West Catawba and Lidl is coming to the Alexander Farm mixed-use project. The mayor issued a one word statement: “Prost!”
