Sunset Cove Pulled From Architecture Board Agenda

By Dave Vieser — The Sunset Cove project on Nantz Road has been pulled from the agenda at today’s town Architectural Review Board meeting.
“The applicants requested item be removed from the (ARB) agenda,” said Planning Director Rox Burhans. “This means it will not be on the March Planning Board agenda either.”
The applicant, Larry Griffin Jr., asked the town to halt the review process last summer after the initial presentation to the town board generated opposition from nearby residents.
The latest proposal features a new single story 6,000-square-foot event building with a metal roof and a wall of windows and doors that open to the lake. The front of the structure is a mix of stone, stucco and brick.
The Architectural Review Board was planning to review the new event space elevations and determine whether they comply with the town’s architectural guidelines. The commission is not responsible for approving or denying rezoning proposals.
The remainder of the meeting agenda, which includes review of a new ABC store in Cornelius, will proceed as scheduled.
The ARB meeting will begin at noon today in the Town Hall chamber.
