Suicide prevention, mental health awareness program set for Sept. 21

Sept. 11. Davidson Mayor Knox and the Board of Commissioners acknowledged the recent passing of a Davidson teen to suicide and the need for mental health awareness and resources. The board would like to continue the conversation in the community and at an upcoming board meeting with Davidson LifeLine and other area mental health resources to discuss advocacy and ideas for mental health.

DavidsonLifeLine and the Davidson Parks & Recreation Department will host a Virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22 from 6 pm – 8:15 pm.  The course will teach adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth (ages 6-18) and help connect them to the appropriate care.  For  information and to register for the class, click here.
