Storm: Lights out!

Sept. 10. A fierce late afternoon storm Thursday took out limbs and lights around Cornelius. Traffic lights were still out at Jetton and West Catawba at 6:30 pm. The National Weather Service says we should expect scattered showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then isolated showers between midnight and 2 am with some patchy fog after 2. Winds will die down to 5 to 9 mph, then calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

FRIDAY WEATHER: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph.
