March 22. The 10th annual Lake Norman Senior Fun and Fitness Day will be held starting at 9 a.m. April 19 at Jetton Park in Cornelius. The event is hosted by the North Mecklenburg Senior Center. Older adults will have the opportunity to take a fitness walk around the park while also enjoying a morning filled with health and fitness activities.
Health vendors will be in a “vendor village” near the beach to allow easy access.
Fun and fitness games will be located together at Waterfront Hall area and will include badminton, corn hole, ladder golf, target sticky ball, and a giant Connect 4 game.
A guided group fitness walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. Seniors will receive pedometers and may walk a quarter- or half-mile loop.
Novant Health Huntersville will provide blood pressure checks and other health screenings.
The event will also feature a chair exercise class at 10:30 a.m., a gentle yoga class at 11 a.m., and a line dance class at 11:15 a.m.
After the games, participants are invited to stay for lunch and music by DJ Bob Lazar.
Registration is $5 in advance, and $7 on the day of the event. The first 50 persons to register will receive a special gift.
