Hundreds gathered on the lawn outside Town Hall on Monday to honor the sacrifices of military members and their families on Memorial Day. Robert Westmoreland of American Legion Post 86 served as master of ceremonies, and Brad Borders, a retired U.S. Army officer, delivered the keynote address.

Mayor Denis Bilodeau also addressed the crowd, and there were performances by the North Mecklenburg Community Chorus and the North Carolina Youth Orchestra.

The Hough High School JROTC posted the colors, and the American Legion Post 86 Honor Guard performed a three-volley salute.

The North Mecklenburg Exchange Club provided refreshments after the ceremony concluded.

Grateful for this ceremony to honor all who have gone before us to defend democracy.
