Property Tax Bills Mailed This Week

Mecklenburg County property tax bills are on the way, with about 449,000 bills mailed this week to property owners and businesses across the county.

Taxes are due Sept. 1, but payments made by Jan. 5, 2027, will avoid interest. Unpaid balances beginning Jan. 6 will incur 2% interest for January and an additional 0.75% each month thereafter.

Property owners whose assessments or tax records are under appeal will receive their bills later.

Homeowners with mortgage escrow accounts will have their tax bills sent directly to their mortgage company, while owners receive a tax notification.

County officials encourage anyone who may have trouble paying their tax bill to contact the Office of Tax Administration before the payment becomes delinquent.

Qualifying homeowners may also be eligible for up to $650 through Mecklenburg County’s HOMES property tax assistance program. Davidson residents may qualify for an additional $534 through the town’s partnership with the county.
