Dec. 17. Cornelius Police have identified an Asheboro man as the victim of a drowning death Thursday near Holiday Marina on Henderson Road. Police said Thomas E. Schenck had a boat at the marina near the location he was found. The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death. Police believe this was medical related or death by natural causes which led to the drowning. There are no indications of foul play, police said. The call came in a little after 8 Thursday morning. Police and fire boats responded as well.
