The Cornelius Police Department is inviting residents and visitors to a Lake Safety Education Event on Wednesday, July 2, from 3-5 p.m. at the Joshua Murray Boating Safety Education and Awareness Center at Blythe Landing.

Attendees can learn about boating safety, water safety, life jacket use, emergency preparedness and other topics designed to prevent accidents and save lives on the water.
Educational displays, interactive activities and safety demonstrations will be offered throughout the event.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend, with families and children especially welcome to engage with public safety agencies and lake partners in a hands-on environment.
The event is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to lake safety education through its Operation Safe Lake initiative.
Organizers said the event is designed to reach boaters ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, when Lake Norman typically sees increased recreational traffic and greater safety risks.
Admission is free. Parking at Blythe Landing will be available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the event.
