A popular Cornelius salon has been recognized as one of the top salons in the country for its treatment of clients.

Sanctuary Salon & Spa, located in downtown Cornelius, was named one of 12 salons nationwide for excellence in customer service. The recognition came as part of the annual Salon Today 200 awards presented by Salon Today, an industry trade publication.

“As a locally owned salon operating out of a historic bungalow in Cornelius, this recognition means a great deal to our team and our community,” owner Bettina Howard said. “Our mission has always been to create a five-star guest experience that begins before a client ever walks through our doors and continues long after they leave.”

The Salon Today 200 is an annual program that recognizes 200 top-performing salons, spas and barbershops across North America. Now in its 29th year, the awards are based on sales growth and best practices in categories including customer service, employee education and philanthropy. Winners are recognized at an annual awards dinner.

Karen Pippen has joined the Lake Norman office of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. Pippin, previously with Christy Walker & Associates, joined Walker in her move to the real estate agency with offices in the Jetton Village Shoppes.

Pippen has more than 20 years of residency in the Charlotte and Lake Norman areas and previously served as a special education teacher with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
