Old-fashioned BBQ and Candidate Forum

TODAY. Cornelius Today hosts the Old-fashioned BBQ and Candidate Forum 11:30 am to 1 pm  Oct. 2 at Town Hall. The cost to attend is $8.

Moderator Lisa Mayhew will ask the six candidates for five seats on the Town Board  the questions. You will learn how they plan to tackle issues facing our town in a fun atmosphere. Join in the rousing patriotic songs and enjoy BBQ, the fixin’s and beverages, all for $8.

The doors open a little after 11 a.m. and the event closes at 1. You can meet the candidates before and after the formal program which is held in the Community Room at Town Hall on Catawba Avenue. .

The Town Commission incumbents who are running again are Jim Duke, Dave Gilroy, Thurman Ross and Woody Washam.

The two who hope to be elected for the first time are Denis P. Bilodeau, a first-time candidate, and Dr. Michael F. Miltich who ran in 2013.

Rev. Fred Hoffman will lead the Invocation; Sen. Jeff Tarte will lead the Pledge of Allegiance; Donna Moffett will be the timekeeper; and Julie Jones is the keyboardist.
