No swim area marked in purple

Aug. 27. On Tuesday afternoon Mecklenburg County announced that it was lifting the no swim advisory issued on Aug. 23 for the cove near 18603 Harborside Drive in Cornelius. The cove is just east of Lakehouse Wine Bar & Grill.

Staff from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services retested water samples for E. coli and fecal coliform and said the results “have come back within the necessary range to lift this advisory.”

A county official said the bacteria was due to a sewer overflow that reached the lake.

The beach closing in early August at Ramsey Creek Park was attributed to runoff from heavy rainfall events, according to county officials.
